Addie Brown

May 15, 1930 — February 22, 2021

Addie Mae “Hilda” Brown, age 90 years old, passed away quietly in her home surrounded by family on February 22, 2021. She was born in Durham, NC on May 15, 1930 to Ethan & Addie Mae Lockamy. She grew up in Florida where she graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1948. After graduating high school, she worked as a bookkeeper until moving to Glennville, GA in the early 1970s where she worked for Clydes Market for many years. She was an Avon representative for over 20 years and worked at Ft. Stewart where she retired in 1997 after 21 years of service. Lovingly known as “Granny Hilda”, she cared for many children in Glennville who were all “her babies”. Following her retirement from Ft. Stewart, she began caring for the nursery at Glennville First Baptist Church until she was 90 and served on the church’s comfort committee. One of her many enjoyments was crocheting baby blankets for the babies she loved on. Hilda was a gracious, caring, and loving lady who never met a stranger. Throughout her life she practiced her love for God and passed that love on to her children and grandchildren.

Hilda is survived by her son, Allen (Johnnie) Templeton, daughter Bonnie Weeks, grandchildren Melissa (Mike) Sterling, Michelle (Diddle) Hickson, Shannon Templeton, Kelly (Esha) Potter, John Weeks, David (Erica) Weeks, Mary Weeks and great grandchildren, Amber (Zach) Archer, Michael Hickson, Brandon Cantrell, Bailey Hickson, Presten Hickson, Bryce Templeton, Payton White and great great grandchild, Alayna Jo Archer.
