Betty Holland Dubberly, a beloved educator and cherished member of the Glennville community, departed this life on February 7, 2026, at Evans Memorial Hospital at the remarkable age of 93. Born on January 20, 1933, in the tranquil surroundings of Jasper County, Georgia, Betty lived a life steeped in grace, love, and a commitment to enriching the lives of those around her.
Her educational journey was marked by a distinguished tenure that began with a graduation from Miller High School in Macon, followed by her academic triumphs at Mercer University. There, she graduated with honors, receiving a Bachelor of Art in Education while simultaneously nurturing her passion for sports as a softball player and leading her peers as president of her sorority. While at Mercer, Betty met the love of her life, Bruce Daniel Dubberly, Jr, as it was love at first sight. They were married on July 24, 1955, and built a life enriched in love, hard work and dedication.
After teaching a short tenure she went home to raise her three children, whom she dedicated most of her life to as a homemaker. She decided to further enhance her credentials; Betty earned her certification to teach high school algebra from Georgia Southern University. She served two terms on the Glennville Recreation Board, contributed her time as an active member of the Garden Club—where she proudly held a tenure as President—and was a dedicated member of the Friendship Sunday School Class at Glennville First Baptist Church where she faithfully attended. Additionally, her past involvement in a Bridge Club showcased her social spirit and her ability to bond with others through shared interests. Even in her recent years you could find her and her husband on any given morning taking their daily walk, showcasing their strength, dedication and faith to live a fulfilled life.
Described as graceful, caring, and frugal, Betty was a compassionate caregiver, taking pride in her role as a loving daughter, mother and grandmother.
