Betty Mahnke

April 19, 1931 — February 14, 2021

Betty Blocker Dunham Mahnke, 89, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family and under the care of GHC Hospice. She was a life-long resident of Glennville. Betty was a 1948 graduate of Glennville High School. After graduating she went to work at the Citizen’s Bank where she worked for over forty years until she retired. She became a member of Glennville United Methodist church in 1948 and was the oldest living member of her beloved church, which she faithfully served for 72 years.

In addition to her love of the Lord, she loved spending time with and cooking for her children, grandchildren, friends and extended family. Her grandchildren recall a childhood full of memories at “Mema and Pepa’s coast house”. Betty loved to dance, play cards, fish and sing hymns. She also loved her weekly games of BINGO and attending Sunday School and Church.

She is preceded in death by two loving husbands; W.C. Dunham, Jr. and Willard Lee “Will” Mahnke. She is survived by her three children, whom she adored, Wynelle “Winky” (Bruce) Welsh, Patty (T.J.) Johnson, and Henry (Adina) Dunham. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren—Brandy (Chris) Sherrod, Lee (Abbey) Johnson, Ashley (Matt) Blizzard, Ellie (Garrett) Stout, Emily (James) Tanner, Ezra and Victor Dunham; and ten great-grandchildren, with one to be born in August of this year. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, who adored their “Aunt Betty”.
