Savannah/Glennville
Betty J. Purvis Thomas, 85, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Hospice Savannah. She is a native of Tattnall County but had lived in the Savannah area since she married. She was the daughter of late Remer Purvis and Fannie Kicklighter Purvis. She was a member of Mendes Baptist Church but attended Cresthill Baptist Church in Savannah where her passion was the telephone ministry. She also played the piano for Sunday school and was a member of the choir. She was a devoted mother, loving grandmother with a sweet spirit and lovely smile. (Proverbs 31 woman).
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Leo K. Thomas, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Survivors include:
Children:Deborah & Bob Carney of Savannah
Brother:Carol (Brenda) Purvis of Glennville
Sister-in-Law:Betty Henry of Jesup
Grandsons:Ashley Carney & Eric (Ashley) Carney
Five Great-Grandaughters and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Mendes Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Dixon and Rev. Carl Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers: Don Bonner, Randy Purvis, Bernard Purvis, Chase Purvis, Jess Purvis, Lawrence Bradley, Lance Bradley, Josh Rewis.
