Billy William Sikes

June 19, 1940 — March 3, 2026

Glennville

Billy W. Sikes, age 85, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 3, 2026, under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Billy was born on June 19, 1940, the youngest of six children, to the late Troy and Cora Sikes. In 1962, he married the love of his life, the late Louise Futch. Their marriage spanned 58 devoted years until her passing in 2020, a bond marked by love, loyalty, and partnership.

Billy was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. He began his career in law enforcement as a driver’s license instructor for the Department of Public Safety at Fort Stewart. He was best known for his service as a police officer with the Glennville Police Department, where he served the community from 1986 until his retirement in 2002. Following retirement, Billy continued working with Joe Davis Surveying until 2018 and Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home until 2015.

Billy was known for being a true “cut up,” always quick with humor and a smile. In his later years, he could often be found under his carport, cigar in hand, surrounded by friends and neighbors—sharing stories, laughter, and the easy companionship he cherished so much. Those gatherings became a tradition, where birthdays and special occasions were celebrated together.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Sikes; his parents, Troy and Cora Sikes; his son, Allen Sikes; his grandson, Ben Sikes; and his siblings, C.J. Sikes, Hymie Sikes, Curtis Sikes, Annette Sikes, and Betty Kilby.

He is survived by his daughter, Larenda Dasher; his grandchildren, Troy Sikes, Nicky Sikes (Daniel), Logan Bland (Rachel), Jackson Dasher, and Hannah Dasher; and his great-grandchildren, Lawson Knight, Will Sikes, Hudson Sikes, Haven Sikes, Indy Knight, and Hallie Bland.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Billy’s caregivers and close friends for their love, support, and compassion: William Altman, Janice Brannen, Bob Carey, Ruth Ann Foster, Glenda Geiger, Lisa Hartley, Greg Janeczek, Sherri Jenkins, Melvin and Josette Sprout, Robin Stanfield, Janis Todd, and Dawn Waldren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 6, 2026, at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Entombment will follow in Glennville Memorial Gardens.
