Burnice Eugene Iddins

Burnice Eugene Iddins, 92, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, July 1, 2023.  He was born on May 18, 1931, in Reidsville, Georgia, to Harvey and Ada Sharpe Iddins. Burnice proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War, receiving the Combat Infantry Badge, Army of Occupation Medal J and the Korean Service medal with one Bronze Service Star. After his service, he moved to Miami, Florida working in the South Florida Dairy where he met the love of his life, Vondell. He and his wife moved back to Reidsville several years later and he began his career as a Correctional Officer with Georgia State Prison and Federal Correction Institute. After retirement he worked as a jailer for the Tattnall County Sheriff's Department for fifteen years.  Burnice and his wife were also known as the owners and operators of Tatum's Corner Store for many years. 

Burnice lived by his own set of rules which led him to the creation of the Burnice Iddins Card Club, where he shared countless afternoons filled with laughter and friendly competition with his friends. He could also be found every morning at McDonalds with the McDonalds Coffee DP Club. He also cherished the time spent with his beloved grandchildren, creating treasured memories that will be forever etched in their hearts. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vondell Iddins; sons, Danny DeLoach and David Iddins; siblings, Ralph, Dorman, Odell, Lucille and Retus.

Burnice is survived by: daughter, Deb Brown of Glennville, Georgia; sister, Wanda Wiggins of Glennville, Georgia; grandchildren, Tabitha & Cliff Brown, Vanessa Hall, D. J. & Kelsey Dubberly, Deneil & Tommy Leggett, Dillon Brown, Danny Ray & Brennan Warren, Patria Iddins, Mark & Sarah Warren, Luke & McKinsey Brown, Melissa & Jake Bianchi; 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, Friday, July 7, 2023 at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 7, 2023 at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
