Mitchell "Dink" Moody

Walter Mitchell Moody, affectionately known as Dink, passed away on September 10, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. He was born on May 1, 1947, in Ludowici, Georgia to Harvey and Ollie Johnson Moody and lived here all of his life.

A 1965 graduate of Ludowici High School, Dink went on to serve his country as a United States Army veteran. He later retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation, a career that reflected the hardworking and dedicated spirit by which he was known.

Dink will be remembered as a generous, kind, loving, hardworking, dedicated, and frugal man whose life was deeply rooted in the things he treasured most. He enjoyed spending time with his family and found great happiness in the outdoors. He loved to fish, cherished time spent at the Altamaha River and was an avid outdoorsman. He also loved walking his land, a simple pleasure that reflected his deep connection to home.

Dink is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Shirley Yeomans, Flonnelle Moody, Jimmy Dale "Pez" Moody, Pete Moody, Hillis Moody, Jerry Moody and Betty Moody.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Michael Lynn of Reidsville, Georgia

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Pigott Branch Baptist Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
