Edward "Gene" Parker, Sr.

Mr. Edward “Gene” Lee Parker, Sr., 85 of Metter, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Parker was born on October 23, 1935 to Mr. Guy Edward and Mrs. Essie Mae Thompson Parker and lived in this area most of his life. After graduating from Metter High School, he served his country in the US Army. He retired from West Building Supply in Statesboro after many years of loyal service. He attended Cedar Street Baptist Church, and in his spare time loved watching sports, including Atlanta Braves, Falcons, and the UGA Bulldogs. He loved fishing, playing cards, and was a very generous person, willing to help anyone in need. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather, and loved his dogs Sandy and Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents

Grandchildren: Dolan, Shay, Brian, Wesley, Cheltsey, Jordan and Haley

Several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 16, 2021at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Cemetery in Metter, GA. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic all CDC social-distancing guidelines of six feet between others will be encouraged. Masks are not required but recommended.
