Edythe Collins Phillips, 96 passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.  The Tattnall County native was born in Cobbtown and grew up in Metter. After graduation from High School she continued her education at Armstrong Atlantic State University as one of original Charter Students Class of 1937. She finished at Georgia Southern University and began her long teaching career back in her hometown of Metter. She taught school in Candler and Tattnall Counties for many years and moved to Glennville in 1940.   Edythe and her husband Pike purchased the Glennville Sentinel where Edythe served as Associate Editor for 34 ½ years. Mrs. Edythe was very active in her community serving on many boards and committees to include Glennville P.T.A, Garden Club, Glennville-Tattnall Museum and Friends of Glennwanis Hotel Restoration Committee.  She was a long time member of Glennville United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the administrative board and member and past president of the Glennville United Methodist Women's Association.  She is preceded in death by her husband, F.E."Pike" Phillips.
   
   She is survived by, Daughter, Carolyn Phillips Morris of Milledgeville, GA
   
   Grandchildren, Harold Mark Morris III of Denver, CO
   
   Caroline Frances Morris of Milledgeville, GA
   
   Several nieces and nephews also survive.
   
   Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home
   
   Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM, December 1, 2015 at the Chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Wilder officiating. Burial will be in Glennville City Cemetery.
