Gene H. Lewis, affectionately known as Skippy to family and friends passed away on December 6, 2024 at his home in Glennville, Georgia. He was born in Glennville Georgia June 21, 1933 the son of the late Ernest M. Lewis and Annie Lou Brown Lewis. He was also preceded in death by his sister Nell L. Mason, and brothers Marion Lewis, Robert Lewis, Emory Lewis, John S. Lewis, and Joe H. Lewis. 

Gene was a graduate of Glennville High School class of 1951. He served during the Korean War in the US Army and was retired owner and manager of Glennville Hardware and Builder Supply. After retiring, he worked for the Tattnall County Tax Accessors office in Reidsville, Ga. He was known for his knowledge of Tattnall County history. He was an avid reader of history and happily shared his information with others. He enjoyed gardening and always had something producing that he could share with family and neighbors. 

He is survived by his brother O.V. Lewis, Blairsville, GA Sister, Nancy L. Hood (Thurmond), Roswell, GA. Sister-in-Law, Duwane W. Lewis, Barney, Ga. Nieces and nephews, Special Niece Lynn Lewis, whom he adored, Barney, Ga, Alan Lewis (Deanna), Mayesville, SC, Sandra H. Platten (Alan) Alpharetta, Ga, William Mason (Barbara) Big Canoe, Ga, and great niece and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 13, 2024 at Brannen Family Funeral Services. funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm, Friday at the Chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors
