George Jackson

January 10, 1956 — November 9, 2022

George Allen Jackson, 66 passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022. He was born January 10, 1956 in Glennville, Georgia, as one of three children, to David Cecil and Geneva Stanfield Jackson and resided with his wife in Macon, Georgia. George was a 1974 graduate of Glennville High School and was Valedictorian of his class. During his high school years, he was a Master 4-Her and won a state wide landscaping contest. George was also a 1978 graduate of the University of Georgia where he earned a degree in Forestry, a Masters Degree in Business Administration and was a proud member of the Alpha Gamma Rho-Alpha Eta Chapter Fraternity.

George had a love of the outdoors like no other with hunting as his passion and forestry as his purpose. He became a Master Forester and owned and operated his own company, Jackson Forestry Services. George worked all over the state of Georgia acquiring many clients which very quickly turned into friends. Once you were George’s friend, he assumed responsibility of your land and cared for it like it was his own. When he was not working, he was hunting, fishing, or working on his family farm in Glennville. George took many hunting trips in the United States, Canada and abroad. His house and taxidermy mounts were a testament to just how much he loved it. But his love for work and hunting could only be trumped by one thing, the loved he had for his family. George was a devoted, caring and loving, husband, father and grandfather. His love for his grandchildren knew no bounds as they could get him to do anything, even naming him “Bitts”.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

George is survived by, his wife of 27 years, Gilda Jackson of Macon, GA; stepsons, Kyle Prosperie of Great Falls, MT, Ryan Prosperie of Biloxi, MS; granddaughters, Madison Prosperie of Warner Robins, GA, Ava Prosperie of Warner Robins, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
