Gilbert John Tootle

Gilbert John Tootle, 63, passed away on September 3, 2026, at his residence under the care of Gentiva Hospice. He was born on January 1, 1963, in Baxley, Georgia to Junior and Jettie Stubbs Tootle and lived here all of his life.

Gilbert was a 1981 graduate of Glennville High School. He worked as a carpenter, a trade that reflected a life of hard work and steady dedication. He was known as someone who was all about his family, and those who knew him always knew how he felt about them.

He found joy in fishing, sports, and being an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, which remained at the center of his life. He will also be remembered for the special saying he shared so freely: “We love everybody everyday.”

Gilbert’s life was marked by devotion to the people he loved, plainspoken sincerity, and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. His memory will remain with all who knew him and loved him.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents and son, Zachary John Tootle.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen Tootle of Glennville, Georgia; daughter, Kaley Traylor (Stephen) of Glennville, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Precious Tootle of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers, Gene Tootle (Kelly) of Collins, Georgia and Gary Tootle of Athens, Georgia.; grandchildren, Aubree, Everley and Eason; several nieces and nephews also survive. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
