He leaves behind a 56 year legacy of service to our Lord and Savior as a southern Baptist pastor, a wife he dearly loved, generations of family and many close, loving friends. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Born in Tattnall County on November 29, 1925, he was the baby of 11 children, a talented singer and musician, a dedicated Pastor and a generous friends who never met a stranger. As a young man, he traveled with several bands playing music up and down the east coast. His call to the ministry at the age of 29 was sure and solid. He did not waiver from that call. He served as President of the Mended Hearts, President of the local AARP chapter, as an instructor for AARP 55-Alive Driving Program and as a member of the Mayor's Committee for the Disabled which was very close to his heart. Rich, Jr., Dennis (Debbie) Rich, Joe Rich (Kathy) all of Augusta; and his stepchildren, Thomas McDaniel of Brunswick, Major Russell (Tonya) McDaniel of Caledonia, MS, Kristi (Jason) Blount of Brunswick; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
