Jeslyn Moody Weitman, a beloved and cherished matriarch, went to her heavenly home on June 12, 2025, at the Community Hospice Inpatient Center in Vidalia, Georgia. Born on March 27, 1930, in the small town of Glennville, Georgia to Willie and Lollie Burkhalter Moody, Jeslyn graced the lives of many with her unwavering kindness, strong work ethic, and boundless spirit of generosity.
For two remarkable decades, Jeslyn served as a food service supervisor for the Tattnall County School System, where her dedication left an indelible mark on countless students and fellow staff members. In her latter years she was also employed with Rimes-Stewart Mortuary, Cobb Funeral Home and Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Jeslyn embraced her role with the fervor that only someone of her caring nature could muster, embodying the values of service and compassion that resonate deeply in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
A devoted homemaker, Jeslyn found immense joy in her personal pursuits and hobbies. She cultivated beauty in her yards and gardens, pouring her love and nurturing spirit into every blossoming flower and rich, yielding vegetable. Her culinary talents brought warmth to family gatherings and events, where the aromas of her cooking lingered long after the meals were shared, creating lasting memories woven together by love. Jeslyn's dedication to family was paramount in her life, and she took great pride in her most cherished accomplishment which was her family.
Jeslyn was a faithful member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and actively participated in the Widow's Sunday School Class, where she found community and camaraderie among her friends. Here, she nurtured friendships that mirrored her own spirit—warm, unwavering, and deeply compassionate. She was a woman of great faith that carried her throughout her remarkable 95 years of life.
Jeslyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jesse Thomas "J.T." Weitman and son, Adair Weitman.
She is survived by:
Children, James Weitman (Jenny) of Glennville, Georgia
Angela Ambrose (Harry) of Claxton, Georgia
Five grandchildren, several great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm, Sunday, June 15, 2025 at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, June 15, 2025 at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
