John Flournoy

John Victor Flournoy, Sr., 85, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of Bethany Hospice. He was born August 5, 1935 in Ludowici, Georgia to John and Alma Driggers Flournoy. Victor joined the Georgia National Guard at the age of 17 and retired after 35 years of service as Master Sergeant while working at MATES. He was also retired Civil Service after 35 years where he was a technical representative for AMCCOM- Arms Munitions Chemical Command. While with AMCCOM he had many assignments including being a maintenance technician, weapons system specialists on a maneuver area training equipment site and a directorate of logistics in Ft. Jackson South Carolina, Fulda, Germany, Hawaii, and Ft. Stewart, Georgia. He loved salt water fishing and spending time at his home at Half Moon Marina.

Victor married the love of his life, Saralyn Oliver Flournoy of Mendes on September 2, 1956. They have been married for 64 years and had one son, Vic Flournoy, who is married to Quinn Strickland Flournoy, and two grandsons, Zach Flournoy (Chloe) and Cade Flournoy.

He is also survived by his siblings: Jakie Stelling (Conrad) of Macon, Georgia, Barbara Davis (Billy) of Fairborn, Ohio, Sandi Ahlbrand (Bruce) of Port Charlotte, Florida, Richard Flournoy of Cartersville, Georgia and Jimmy Flournoy (Kim) of Jesup, Georgia. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Victor is preceded in death by: his parents, Alma and John “Johnnie” Flournoy and a sister-in-law, Jerri Flournoy.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, Friday, August 6, 2021 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 6, 2021 at the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
