Junior J Kirkland, 99, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at Amber Grove at North Springs. Born on February 4, 1927, in Glennville, Georgia, to James and Minerva Bacon Kirkland, he was the youngest of twelve children. Junior's life was marked by unwavering dedication to his country and his profession, as well as by his sincere commitment to his personal interests and community.

A proud World War II veteran, Junior served honorably in the Army, a testament to his courage and devotion. Following his military service, he pursued a career as an engineer with the Department of Transportation, where he made lasting contributions to infrastructure and safety, impacting countless lives throughout his career.

In his leisure time, Junior found joy in playing golf and participating in the local pool club. He was also actively involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), embracing the camaraderie and support that these organizations foster. These passions reflected his love for community, fellowship, and a life well lived.

He is preceded in death by parents, son, Kenneth Kirkland, and wife of 72 years, Mary Vonceil Beasley Kirkland. He is survived by brother-in-law, Jimmy Beasley of Glennville, several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Brannen Family Funeral Services. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Glennville City Cemetery.
