Laura Kathryn Pinkston, 79, who peacefully entered her Heavenly home on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Glenvue Nursing & Rehab, under the care of Coastal Hospice, following an extended illness. Born in Savannah, Georgia, on July 20, 1946, to George and Ester Beasley Tibbits, Laura graced every environment she entered with warmth, wit, and a singularly spirited presence that uplifted all who knew her.
Laura’s formative years in the small community of Mendes, bore early witness to her lively charm and leadership, attributes that earned her the title of Miss Glennville High School 1964 at her alma mater, of which she was a proud graduate.
Known for a personality that was, in every respect, larger than life, Laura radiated a genuine love for conversation and the authentic connection it fosters. People were drawn to her fun-loving, outgoing nature and her remarkable gift for storytelling—traits that transformed even a simple gathering into a memorable event. Laura’s mind brimmed with recollections; her remarkable memory made her a veritable walking history book, enriching those around her with stories and memories.
Professionally, Laura devoted herself wholeheartedly to service and support in her community. She served as secretary for the Glennville First Baptist Church for a cherished fifteen years, rendering conscientious stewardship and friendly efficiency that left an indelible mark on the congregation. Equally committed to the growth and enrichment of minds, Laura spent another fifteen years with the Glennville Public Library, where her love of books and knowledge for learning were shared daily. In addition, her work at Tattnall Hospital in registration and her compassionate care as an in-home caregiver for the elderly further emphasized her selfless nature and unwavering desire to uplift and comfort those around her.
Laura was an individual of many talents and passions. She found tranquility and fulfillment in the creation of comforting meals—her skills in cooking and baking were famed family treasures. She crocheted, pondered over crossword puzzles with lively determination, and was an enthusiastic, lifelong reader. Each of these pursuits bore testament to her inquisitive mind and nimble hands, and they delighted all who enjoyed their fruits.
Yet, amidst her varied accomplishments and broad affiliations, Laura’s greatest pride and profound achievement resided in her family. She was a faithful member of Elza Baptist Church.
