Leroy Ronald Johnson, lovingly known as Leroy by all who knew him, passed away at his residence on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He was born on October 28, 1962, in Jesup, Georgia, to Jerome and Izola Odom Johnson and lived here all of his life.

Leroy's journey through life was marked by an authentic spirit and an unwavering connection to the land and people around him. He worked for WA Rogers & Sons, where he dedicated many hours of hard work, reliability, and good humor. His skill was as much in his hands as in his heart; Leroy could run any kind of equipment and took pride in the tasks that filled his working days.

Outside of work, Leroy was known for his love of the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies but passions that spoke deeply to his way of life. There were many times when he would spend weeks at a time down by the river, truly living off the land and embracing the peace and challenge of the natural world. These moments became cherished memories, reflecting his adventurous and carefree spirit.

Those fortunate enough to know Leroy will always remember him for being loving, caring, and kind. His easy-going nature and gentle generosity created an atmosphere of warmth and welcome around him. Leroy was someone who offered support without hesitation and kindness without expectation.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Izola Johnson and a brother, Michael Johnson.

He is survived by:

Father, Jerome Johnson, Daughter, Eva Beckman, Siblings, Tina Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Tony Johnson, Rodney "Tigger" Johnson and Donnie Odom, Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins also survive.

A visitation in honor of Leroy Johnson will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brannen Family Funeral Services.
