On Thursday, January 14, 2021, Linda Blocker Fort, loving wife and mother of three passed away at the age of 73.
Linda was born on November 3, 1947 in Reidsville, GA to Herbert and Laverne (Busby) Blocker. She graduated from Ludowici High School in 1965. On November 3, 1965, she married the love of her life, Melvin Fort. They raised two daughters and one son.
Linda had a compassionate heart and enjoyed helping others in times of need. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Linda and Melvin opened their home several times in order to help other family members. Coaching a couple of softball teams for several years was another example of her passion for others. Linda also loved fishing, gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She enjoyed crocheting blankets and toys for her grandchildren. Throughout her life she helped her husband in many aspects of his business ventures. Linda was a member of Pigott Branch Missionary Baptist Church.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Herbert, her mother, Laverne, and siblings Geraldine Rhodes, Brenda Blocker, Buck and Mickey Blocker. One special grandson, Cody Dasher, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Melvin Fort; daughters, Tracy (Marky) Waters and Leigh Dreggors; son, Leonard (Kelly) Fort; and son-in-law, Daniel Dreggors. She was blessed with several grandchildren, Chance Dasher, Brenna Dreggors, Sarah (Christian) Mercado, Jacob Fort, Emma Waters, Mark (Kendra) Waters, and Dillan (Lacey) Waters. Great-grandchildren include Lynzie Dasher, Chancey Dasher, Jake Dasher, and Will Waters. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Myrna Milstrey, Ann Blocker and Vernell Todd, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Pigott Branch Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Burial will follow.
Social distancing of six feet due to Covid 19 will be enforced and masks are asked to be worn on all services.
