Mark Burke

October 16, 1966 — May 19, 2021

Mark Andrew Burke, 54, passed away May 19, 2021 covered in prayers by all who knew and loved him. He was born October 16, 1966 to Jimmy and Elaine Blanton Burke and lived in Glennville most of his life.  Mark worked for the Tattnall County Road Dept. before transferring to Sullivan Recycling where he was awarded Sullivan’s first Driver of the Year award. With a cancer diagnosis in 1999, doctors gave Mark under 6 months to live; he waited 22 years and beat cancer twice before joining his parents in Heaven. During these gifted years Mark was able to be the best man in his brother’s wedding, bungee jump, work the booths at Keller’s Flea Market, teach a bird to talk, accumulate an impressive collection of plaid shirts, help out at Pine Forest Nursery and Florist, travel to the mountains and beaches, explore area flower nurseries, care for his mother and father in their last years, learn to use Facebook but not how to speak Spanish.

Mark had a deep passion for landscaping and bread and butter pickles. He could often be found in his yard or at his dear friend Judy's planting a variety of flowers between pickle breaks. During those breaks Mark enjoyed relaxing with his beloved dog Alex while tolerating Tammy’s dog Gigi. Having too many good qualities to list, it is best to focus on Mark’s greatest quality of caring for others. He would often go beyond his means and strength to help anyone at any time. Mark was a sweet soul upon this earth and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

He is survived by his partner Jerry Carrillo, siblings, Tammy Burke, Joey Burke, Andy Burke (Jan), dear friend Judy Blanton, loving nephews Bryce and Emmett Burke and many more
family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will be private at a later date.
