Mary Ketchie

July 22, 1911 — February 11, 2016

.Mary Hooper Ketchie, 104, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at her residence in Glennville. She was born in Monticello, Georgia, July 22, 1911 to Henry Benjamin Hooper and Annie Whitten Hooper. At the beginning of 1942 she moved her family to Macon, Georgia where she worked at the Naval Ordinance Plant in the Gun Powder Department measuring gun powder for bullets used in the War. At that time, several of her brothers and sisters worked at the Plant also. After World War II she worked at Stephens, a ladies apparel shop in Macon as the head cashier for three different locations. During the early years of the Vietnam War, she returned to the demolition department as an inspector. After her work there was completed, she returned to Stephens and worked until her retirement at age 65. While in Macon she attended Vineville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ed Cook Sunday School Class.
On her 92nd birthday in 2003 she moved to Glennville, Georgia to live near her daughter Betty and her family. Her church home became the Glennville United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Cowart-Wesley Memorial Sunday School Class. Living in Glennville, she was able to drive until the age of 99 and garden until the age of 102. She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude E. Ketchie, son, Billy C. Holland, four brothers, and three sisters.

Sister, Louise Aiken 102 years old of Monticello, GA
Chosen Daughter, Zell Stephen of Warner Robins, GA
Granddaughters, Kim Dubberly Rowden, Lynne (Steve) Phillips, Julie Johnson, Tracy (Grayson) Lane, Elizabeth (Scott) Samsjadny.
Grandsons, Danny (Gloria) Dubberly, Lee Dubberly and Scott Holland
Great Grandchildren, Cameron Holland, Mitchell, Whiteny Rowden, Claire Garwes, Casey Dubberly Giddens, Brandon Phillips, Bruce Dubberly, Jon Hope and Justin McLeod
Great Great Grandchildren, Ava Giddens, Quinn Giddens and Grant Giddens
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am from the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial with Graveside service will be Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery in Macon.
