Ms. Ima Jean Curl (Mongin) Monforte
On Monday, July 12, 2021, Ms. Ima Jean laid down for a nap. She dreamt of a place so beautiful, with a Flower Garden that sang to her and offered her rest and peace. Ima Jean never awoke from her dream and is now spending time singing in the most beautiful Garden, at rest and at peace.
Ms. Ima Jean, Sister, Momma, Nana and Aunt Ima Jean, will be missed by many. She was born in Emanuel County on September 26,1938 to Mr. Jim and Ms. Pinnie Curl. Ima Jean, her parents, and her five siblings resided in Tattnall County. Although her life took her to many places, Ima Jean always proudly proclaimed Cobbtown as her home. She has now been reunited in that Garden with her parents, Mr. Jim and Ms. Pinnie, and two of her brothers, Mr. Johny Curl and Mr. Curtis Curl.
Although her family knows that she is in a place of rest and peace, she will be sorrowfully missed. She is survived by her children, Ms. Pamela L. Mongin, Mr. Lamar G. Mongin, Jr., Mrs. Michelle M. Norton & Thom, all of Candler County. They are joined in remembering Ima Jean by her siblings, Ms. Betty Curl Brown & Ray, Mr. Gary Curl & Velma both of Tattnall County, and Mr. James Curl & Gail of Candler County. Ms. Ima Jean loved children and babies and most precious to her were her grandchildren: Jason Mongin & Molly, Candyce Mongin, Thomas Norton and Kate Norton. Her great-grandchildren: Jase, Rowan, and Crew Mongin, Lexi Vaughn and Serenity Vickery. Ima Jean was also blessed with many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and cared for deeply.
The family would like to express their thanks to all those who have kept them in their thoughts and prayers, and they hope that they will continue Ima Jean’s legacy and touch others the way she has touched so many.
