Myrna Collins Milstrey

August 16, 1939 — February 28, 2024

Glennville

Myrna Collins Fort Milstrey, 84, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 under the care of Savannah Hospice at Azaelaland Nursing Home in Savannah, Georgia. 

She was born in Baxley, Georgia on August 16, 1939, to Mildred Collins Fort and Sius Leonard Fort. Myrna graduated from Glennville High School in 1957. After graduating, she worked at the PAL Theater here in Glennville, where she met a handsome Soldier by the name of Lester Eugene Baxley. They were married on February 4, 1961 at Northside Baptist Church where she was a member and was baptized on June 5, 1977. They had 4 children, Christopher, Paul, Gina and Jill. She later had a career selling Tupperware, scooping ice cream at the local Dairy Queen, sewing at the Ruth Originals in North Carolina and finishing her career with Meals on Wheels as the coordinator for the delivery routes. 

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Christopher Gerald Baxley and Paul Baxley, siblings, Billy Fort, Jewette Ray and a twin brother, Melvin Fort.

She is survived by: daughters, Gina Wise (Jeff) of Shellman Bluff, Georgia and Jill Baxley of Collins, Georgia. She was blessed with several grandchildren, Justin Ebaugh (Kiele Nelson) of Tampa, Florida, Colton Cantrell of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Tanner Burrell. As well as several bonus grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm, Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services.  Burial will follow in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Baxley, Georgia.
