Ruby Louise Brown

Ruby Louise Eason Brown, 95, died peacefully early Sunday morning, September 27, 2026.

Louise was born on December 18, 1930 to Paul Smith and Nina Pearl Futch Eason in Sylvania, Georgia. Louise married James Loyce Brown, Sr (Jim) on December 23, 1949 at the courthouse in Ridgeland, South Carolina and made their home in Port Wentworth, Georgia where they raised their family.

She was a proud graduate of Savannah High School in the class of 1949.

Louise lived most of her life as a homemaker, until she became a school bus driver at Savannah Christian Preparatory School, where she later became Transportation Route Coordinator.

She also worked at the Chatham County Board of elections as a poll officer and became a poll manager for 50 years.

She was a member of Ed Young Senior Center in Port Wentworth where she was actively involved until just a few months ago where she enjoyed serving lunch and calling Bingo.

Louise was also the oldest living and active member of North Salem Baptist Church where she and her family attended since 1958 and was a member of Senior Adult Sunday School and You at Heart. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, James L. Brown, Jr. “Jim” and Shelia Bussell Brown; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberley Brown Purvis and Randy Theus Purvis.

Six grandchildren: Erin Brown Gatliff (Rob), Kelly Brown Thornton (Sean), Sarah Brown Jones (Brandon), Mallory Purvis Baxter (Wiley), Kristen Purvis Starnes (Kelly), Jamie Brown

Eleven great grandchildren: Eason Dailey, Ro, Emma and Whit Gatliff, Jack and Charleigh Jones, Mason and Miller Baxter, Kennedy Starnes, Jason and Jackson Brown

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 1, 2026 at North Salem Baptist Church in Port Wentworth, Georgia. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am. Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia.
