Shirley Johnson Porter Driggers, passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 83 surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. Born on August 22, 1942, in Ludowici, Georgia, to Harris Lee and Dollie Kate Purcell Johnson, Shirley’s life was a tapestry woven from the threads of love, family, and resilience.
Best known for her radiant smile that could light any room, Shirley dedicated her life to nurturing those around her. As a carnival wife, she played a pivotal role in running the carnival cook house, sharing not just food but also joy and laughter with those who visited. Her talents extended beyond this endeavor, as she became a devoted homemaker, raising three children and opening her heart as a mother figure to many. She embodied the spirit of unconditional love, affectionately known as Mama, Granna, and Nanny, making a significant impact in the lives of her family members and the numerous friends who considered her their own.
Shirley loved her family deeply, demonstrating her devotion through the countless hours spent together. Her passion for family created a strong bond among her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom cherish the memories she created with them.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Thurmon Johnson, Darvin Johnson, Leroy Johnson, Frances Anderson, Laverne Parker, brother-in-law, Jerry Morey, husbands, Bill Porter, Randall Driggers and a son, Logan Porter.
She is survived by:

Great Grandchildren, Morgan Turner, Aiden Turner, River Faulker, Mazzy Faulker, Ryan Veal, Amber Veal, Riley Veal
Great-Great Grandchildren, Paisley Pierce and Waylon Veal
Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Pigott Branch Church Cemetery.
