Stephen Lawrence “Wormy” Ward, 72, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro. He was born December 6, 1948 in Florence, South Carolina to X.B. and Mary Ida Lawrence Ward. Stephen was a 1967 graduate of Southside High School where he met and proposed to his high school sweetheart, Linda. He was a US Army Veteran and was retired from Interstate Paper in Riceboro, Georgia after 30 plus years. Stephen enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors, working on his farm in Florence and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by:

Wife of 53 years, Linda Ward of Hinesville, Georgia

Children, Hope Middleton (Harry) of Ludowici, Georgia
Dennis Ward (Janìce) of Statesboro, Georgia

Siblings, Larry Ward
Diane Ingram both of Florence, South Carolina

Grandchildren, Tanner Middleton, Parker Ward and Levi Ward

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, Friday, November 5, 2021 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, November 5, 2021 at the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to: Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30458.

Social distancing of three feet due to Covid 19 will be enforced and masks are asked to be worn on all services.
