Terrance Duvon Waters “Terry”, a man of many interests, talents, ideas, and successes passed away November 3, 2023, in Cairns, Australia. Living life to its fullest each day, he was exploring the beauty of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef just before his unexpected death.
Terry was born May 15, 1941, the eldest of seven siblings, to the late Marcus Duvon and Edith Durrence Waters. He grew up in Reidsville GA where he attended and graduated from Reidsville High School, Class of 1959. He was a valuable member of the track team where he placed first in region competition and fourth in state. As a member of the football team, he played offensive guard and defensive end. These sports held many great memories for Terry, which he was often heard sharing with those he met. The day after high school graduation, he left for basic training in the Georgia National Guard where he served until 1966 when he was honorably discharged.
Terry met and married Cherrie Tatum of Glennville, GA on, June 3, 1961. They enjoyed 57 years together until her death in 2017. In those years, they were blessed with two children, Mark Waters and Kristi Hernandez of Glennville, GA. Terry had two grandchildren, Chancellor Randall and the late Peyton Randall of Glennville, GA. They brought him much joy throughout their lives as he followed them in their involvement in school activities, sports, and music. In the last months of his life, he enjoyed his only great-grandchild, Lucy Randall.
Terry was an active member of the Glennville community. He was in the grocery business for 38 years in Glennville and surrounding communities. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Glennville Bank. He was part owner of Altamaha Propane until its recent sale and a member of Harmony Church.
Terry was preceded in death by: parents, MD and Edith Durrence Waters, wife, Cherrie Tatum Waters, granddaughter, Peyton Randall, brother, Horace Waters, sister, Joann Bowser, sister, Cynthia Boyett, brother, Jack Waters.
His survivors include:

Brother-in-law, Earl Boyett of Reidsville, GA
Sister-in-law, Linda Waters of Midway, GA
Other survivors include aunts Betty Addis, Ruby Jo Durrence, and Sally Dutton of Glennville, GA, an uncle, Gene Durrence (Sandra) of Claxton, GA, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jeanette Swain DeLoach, of Reidsville, GA, a beloved friend and companion to Terry, enriched the latter years of his life. They enjoyed activities together, with traveling being a favorite. Some of their travels included England, France, Greece, and Italy. Their final trip was to Australia, where Terry passed away. Jeannette remained in Australia to work with the family until all plans to bring him home were finalized. Terry’s family is forever grateful to her and her family for all their love and care.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm, Friday, November 17, 2023, at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Harmony Church. Burial will follow in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Directors of the Glennville Bank.
