Metter �½" Terry J. Slater, 69, died Monday at Shands Medical Center in Live Oak, FL.
He moved to Metter in 1967 coming from Sullivan, Wisconsin and was owner/operator of Terry Slater Trucking Company. He was an Army veteran serving in Vietnam, a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church and loved discussing politics.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and daughter Heidi Slater.
Surviving: wife, Nancy Cardell Slater of Metter, sons, Rhett (Rachel) Slater of Kennesaw, GA, Scott Slater of Charlotte, NC, daughter, Heather (Jamie) Bradshaw of Alvin, Texas, sisters, Donna Herbert of Helenville, Wisconsin, Rosemary Schmied of Watertown, Wisconsin, five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2pm at the Cedar Street Baptist Church with Ronnie Sikes officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
