Tommy Groover

May 24, 1952 — December 22, 2020

Tommy Eugene “Gene” Groover, 68, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. He was born May 24, 1952 to Rufus and Wilma Watson Groover and lived in Savannah most of his life. Gene was employed with Union Camp as a truck driver for many years and later was self employed in the trucking industry. He loved NASCAR racing, drag racing, fishing, camping and was a people person. Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather that loved to spend time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, LJ Groover and a sister Ann Cammack.

Gene is survived by:

Wife, Mary Groover of Savannah, Georgia

Children, Natasha Mendoza (Adrian) of Willow Spring, North Carolina
Amanda Groover (Nan) of Savannah, Georgia
Tommy Groover (Lauren) of Statesboro, Georgia

Step-Children, Johnny Godbee of Faulkville, Georgia
Becky Cooler of Claxton, Georgia

Siblings, Rachael “Winkie” Cammack of Glennville, Georgia
Billy Groover of Glennville, Georgia
Jim Groover of Savannah Georgia

Sister in law, Susan Groover of Glennville, Georgia

Seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home with  Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be private.
