William Strickland

December 13, 1933 — March 13, 2021

William Gerald Strickland, 87, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro. He was born December 13, 1933 to William A. and Lucile Durrence Strickland and lived here most of his life. Gerald was a graduate of Gordon Military High School, Gordon Military College and a 1956 graduate of Southern School of Pharmacy. He owned and operated Strickland’s Pharmacy in Glennville for many years. After retiring, he worked for numerous pharmacies throughout the area. Gerald was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. He was an Atlanta Braves baseball fan, Georgia Bulldogs football fan, an avid golfer and a charter member of Evans Heights Golf Club. In his recent years, Gerald enjoyed being a member of the Senior Pool Club and looked forward to playing every week with his friends, Mike “Dodo” Gutierrez, Elbert Kicklighter, Junior Kirkland, Jared Durrence, Louis Geiger and Bobby Kicklighter. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Betty Davis.

He is survived by, nieces, Marcia Kelso (Mark), Linda M. Beasley and numerous other
relatives and friends.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, March 15, 2021 at Glennville City Cemetery.

Social distancing of six feet due to Covid 19 will be enforced and masks are asked to be worn on all services.
