William Perkins

November 15, 1957 — August 4, 2020

William David Perkins, 62, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton after a short illness. He was born in Statesboro, Georgia on November 15, 1957 to Coy and Tera Brown Perkins and lived in this area all of his life. David was a man of many trades and accomplishments in his lifetime. He was a teacher for 38 years, retiring from Pinewood Christian Academy. In his years of teaching he also served as an assistant principal for Long County Middle School and drove a school bus. David was an accomplished author, writing two books, was a beekeeper, owning his own hives and was a licensed pilot. He loved to sing and took part in several local musicals including the Vidalia City Chorus and Tattnall County Productions. David was a member of Pineview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and led the music and worship. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Jessie Smith.

David is survived by:

Wife of 40 years, Teresa Waters Perkins of Claxton, Georgia

Children, Kelli Smith (Heath) of Glennville, Georgia
Will Perkins (Berry) of Atlanta, Georgia

Siblings, Judy Westbrook (Gene) of Thomson, Georgia
Andy Perkins (Brenda) of Brunswick, Georgia

Grandchildren, Rayleigh and Raylan Smith and Emeline Perkins

Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins also survive.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 am, Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Glennville City Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, the proper ruling of social distancing of six feet between others will be enforced. Masks are not required but are recommended.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to: Pineview Baptist Church, C/O Maryann Swain 1491 Levi Kennedy, Road Reidsville, Georgia 30453 and/or Ronald McDonald House of Cincinnati, 341 Erkenbrecher Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
