Wylene Strickland Johnson, 89, passed away on October 6, 2026, at her residence under the care of GHC Hospice and surrounded by her family. She was born on March 29, 1937, in Glennville, Georgia to Lan and Freida Sheffield Strickland and was a 1955 graduate of Glennville High School.

After graduating high school, she moved to Hollywood, Florida, where she met and married her husband, Billy Johnson. The couple made their home there until 1980, when they returned home to Glennville, Georgia. Over the years, she served her family and community in many ways, including as a homemaker, as secretary for Johnson's Welding & Truck Repair, and as activities director at Glenvue Health & Rehab.

She found her greatest joy in caring for her grandchildren and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and her family were her proudest accomplishment, and she treasured the moments they shared together. She was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where her faith was an important part of her life.

Wylene will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the care she extended to her family, and the steady presence she brought to the lives of those who knew her. Her life was a blessing to her family and friends, and her memory will be cherished with love and gratitude.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 44 years, Billy Johnson, her children, Greggory Lan Johnson, James Douglas Johnson, and an infant daughter, siblings, Johnnie Burkhalter, Naomi Waters, Brenda Strickland and Bill Strickland.

She is survived by;

Children, Pamela Jones (Bob) of Glennville, Georgia
Billy Johnson Jr. (Sheila) of Claxton, Georgia
Stacy Johnson (Melinda) of Glennville, Georgia
Tracy Pray (Ron) of Rincon, Georgia
Jesse Johnson (Amanda) of Glennville, Georgia

Sister, Judy Stanfield of Glennville, Georgia.

Grandchildren, Stacy Johnson Jr. (Larissa), Macy Johnson, Alexis Simmons (Logan), Haleigh Johnson, Jaylynn Johnson, Addy Kirkland, William Lan Johnson, Asa Kate Johnson

Great Grandson, Levi Coy Simmons, Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm Friday, October 9, 2026, at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Burial will be in Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
